This program will explore how career services professionals and consultants can use leadership coaching techniques to help students and clients take greater ownership of their career journeys. By looking beyond an immediate decision, job search, or transition, individuals can identify new opportunities, gain greater career clarity, find fulfillment, and build a strong foundation for long-term success.
The session will not seek to change the role of career services professionals. Instead, it will encourage a more intentional balance of consulting, counseling, and coaching based on the unique needs of each student or client. Central to this approach are active listening, curiosity, and open-ended questions that help individuals uncover limiting beliefs, challenge assumptions, develop self-awareness, and create their own insights and action plans. By integrating leadership coaching strategies into career services, professionals become trusted advisors who offer career coaching alongside many other solutions. More importantly, students and clients gain the confidence,
accountability, and leadership skills needed to navigate change, make informed career decisions, and take ownership of their future.
